Physical Education

Physical Education at Hadleigh High School

We have some excellent sports facilities at Hadleigh High School. We have a 4 badminton court sports hall with a brand new state of the art flooring, a sprung floor gym, a fitness suite and studio area, vast amounts of field with 2 full sized football pitches, 3/4 sized football pitch and two smaller pitches, a rugby pitch, an astro and a hard court area with 3 netball and tennis courts. For a small secondary school we feel we can boast about the large area of land and the facilities we have.

We offer a range of sports including basketball, badminton, volleyball, netball, rugby, football, dance, trampolining, orienteering, hockey, fitness, athletics, cricket, rounders, softball and tennis.

We have an extensive extra-curricular programme that covers sports mentioned above as well as table tennis and cycling. This programme is updated every half-term. Clubs take place for 40 minutes at lunch time and for an hour after school on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday when a late bus is provided. We enter many teams in the sports already mentioned and have a fantastic uptake with students wishing to represent Hadleigh High School. We have many students perform well in the cross country and a lot go through to represent Suffolk, as do many in Athletics. We do incredibly well in rugby and hockey, making county finals, we also made county finals in badminton and basketball last year. Our football teams also do well (both girls and boys) with the U16 girls team making the county cup semi-final and the U14 girls making the plate final. The U16 and U15 boys also did well last year making it through to the semis. We also run inter-house tournaments within the department which are aimed at mass participation.

We have a passionate PE department who put a lot of time into promoting sport through lessons, extra-curricular and fixtures, providing our students with some fantastic opportunities.
