Academy Governance

Hadleigh High School acquired academy status on the 1st July 2011. For us, the freedom to personalise the curriculum around pupils to keep them engaged with learning was crucial. Schools that do well can get overlooked in funding discussions. Academy status allows us to take the decisions about how we use our funding to support learners. We work closely with a wide range of schools to develop further learning opportunities for our pupils and also attend Local Authority training and events.

The principles of governance are the same in Academies as in maintained schools but the governing body has greater autonomy.

The Governing Body at Hadleigh High School Academy

The Governors are responsible for policy and strategy and the Headteacher is responsible for the day-to- day running of the Academy and ensuring that the policy and strategy agreed by the Governors is implemented. The Governing Body has a large number of legal responsibilities and amongst these are ensuring that the National Curriculum is properly delivered, arranging for religious education to be carried out, deciding how to spend the delegated budget and approving the many different Academy policies, such as those referring to discipline and behaviour and health and safety.

In this section of the website you can find out who the governors of our Academy are.

If you would like to contact the governors, please do so by phoning the Academy at the number on this website's front page or by emailing the Academy.

Please note is valid leading up to conversion to a MAT on 1 June 2017
